An endangered species, perhaps? a MANUAL (5-speed) Forester in Newport Blue Pearl. On this 2010 2.5x with 158k, we rebuilt the engine, consisting of reboring the cylinders; new pistons and rings; new main bearings and rod bearings; new block seals, crossover tube seals, and rear main seal; new head gaskets and valve cover gaskets; new oil pan gasket, water pump, water pump gasket, timing kit (including timing belt, tensioner, and three idler wheels), and spark plugs. Resurfaced the heads before putting everything back together.

Also replaced the exhaust system, catalytic converter, upstream O2 sensor (replaced it with a Denso), starter, and tires! Gave it a 300+ mile test to make sure everything checks out.

All-Wheel Drive, of course. Slotted rotors. Twin tailpipes. Incline assist to minimize rollback when stopped on a hill.

Did you notice the cool rims with wheel spacers? FYI, they have a different bolt pattern than Subaru OEM ones do. But don't worry, we put in a spare tire that will fit.

The new tires are a set of 4 Douglas Touring All-Seasons. Brake pads are also like new: 11mm thickness in the front; 8mm in the back.

Pioneer Mixtrax stereo with Bluetooth and remote. Stereo user's manual included. Handsfree phone mic installed. Also has USB and 1/8" aux ports available.

3 12v power outlets: one in dashboard, one in front center console, and one in rear cargo compartment.

Cargo volume with the rear seats up is 33.5 cubic feet. With the rear seats folded, it's 68.3 cf. High quality rubber Subaru cargo mat.

Of all Subaru models, the Forester has a bit more headroom: it's an inch or two higher than the Outback. Driver's seat height (adjustable) averages about 25" off the ground. Ground clearance of the vehicle is 8.7", which helps for navigating in snow.

For stability and safety, Subaru's Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system monitors the direction of the car compared to the intended steering direction. It compensates by braking individual wheels and/or altering fuel flow to the engine. Also, the Traction Control System (TCS) senses if any wheels are skidding and redirects power only to those wheels having the best traction. This is what is meant by the word "symmetrical" in Subaru's "Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive."

Imperfections (see photos): Rust on inside bottom seam of LH front and RH rear doors. Key fobs are unlock only. TPMS light is on even though all tires are inflated to recommended pressure.

But of course it has Subaru's signature All-Wheel Drive transmission!
