Additional Details

This 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5x Premium in Camellia Red Pearl has had a complete engine rebuild, which consisted of reboring the cylinders; new pistons and rings; new main bearings and rod bearings; new block seals, crossover tube seals, and rear main seal; new head gaskets and valve cover gaskets; a new oil pan gasket; a new water pump and water pump gasket; and new valves on cylinders 2 and 4. Resurfaced the heads before putting everything back together.

Also gave it new rear wheel bearings on both sides and new rear brake pads. Front pads have 75% thickness, at 8mm (new for the front is 10mm).

Also installed a new battery, catalytic converter, O2 sensor, mass air flow sensor, windshield, and hatch lift supports. Recharged the A/C.

Gave it our signature 300+ mile test, and it passed.

17" alloy wheels with

Automatic transmission with sport shift. Large power sunroof: 28" x 31.5". HEATED SEATS and windshield wiper deicers. Roof rails for luggage hauling.

2" hitch receiver.

10-way power driver's seat including power lumbar support. Rear seat flip-out tray with 2 cupholders, rear seat flip-down armrest. Rear seats recline as well as fold down for more cargo space.

Sony stereo has Bluetooth connectivity, USB port, and 1/8" audio jack.

There are 3 12v power outlets: in the front console, center console, and rear cargo area.

A trip computer is in the dashboard to monitor fuel economy: it's gotten 23.7 mpg over the last 310 miles.

Of all Subaru models, the Forester has a bit more headroom: it's an inch or two higher than the Outback. Driver's seat height (adjustable) averages about 25" off the ground. Its ground clearance of 8.7 inches makes it not only easy to get in and out of, but along with the all-wheel drive, makes it a great vehicle for all seasons, including Midwest winters.

Cargo volume with the rear seats up is 30.8 cubic feet. With the rear seats folded, it's 63.0 cf.

For stability and safety, Subaru's Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system monitors the direction of the car compared to the intended steering direction. It compensates by braking individual wheels and/or altering fuel flow to the engine. Also, the Traction Control System (TCS) senses if any wheels are skidding and redirects power only to those wheels having the best traction. This is what is meant by the word "symmetrical" in Subaru's "Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive."

Imperfections (see photos): crack in sunroof (does not leak), paint scuff on RH quarter panel, no remote fob. Rear cargo mat is stained but clean. TPMS light is on even though all tires are inflated to recommended pressure.

There's a possibility of a lean fuel-air mixture code (P1153) coming on which would trigger the check engine light (CEL). We've investigated this code and deem it not serious. (We've already replaced the O2 sensor, mass air flow sensor, and the cat converter.) But we'll throw in a code reader just in case the CEL does come on for you. Then you can read the code, determine if in fact it's just the P1153, and then you can erase it.

But of course this Forester has Subaru's signature All-Wheel Drive transmission!
