This 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium with 117k is a classy ride in Sky Blue Metallic. Ready to go after our complete engine rebuild, which consisted of reboring the cylinders; new pistons and rings; new main bearings and rod bearings; new block seals, crossover tube seals, and rear main seal; new head gaskets and valve cover gaskets; valve adjustment; new oil pan gasket, water pump gasket, and spark plugs. Resurfaced the heads before putting everything back together.

Also gave it new front brake rotors and pads. Rear pads are close to new, with 7mm thickness (8mm is new for rear pads). Also replaced both O2 sensors.

Gave it our signature 300+ mile test, and it passed.

Automatic transmission with optional manual mode and paddle shifters. Heavy duty raised suspension.

17" alloy wheels with a set of 4 Firestone Destination LE2 all-season tires have plenty of tread remaining: 8/32" in front and 7/32" in back. (10/32" is new, and 2/32" means Replace Now.) We rotated the tires for you.

Fog lights. Luggage roof rails with pivoting fold-away crossbars.

Lots of amenities: All-Weather Package includes heated front seats, outside mirror defoggers, and windshield wiper de-icers. 10-way power driver seat including power lumbar support. Tilt and telescoping steering wheel. Flip-down rear armrest and beverage holder. Rear seats recline as well as fold down for more cargo space. Retractable rear cargo cover.

The 6-speaker stereo system has handsfree Bluetooth connectivity for your phone. The steering wheel has audio, Bluetooth, phone, and cruise control buttons. A USB port plus a 1/8" aux jack are in the center console.

There are 3 12v power outlets: in the front console, center console, and rear cargo area.

A trip computer is in the dashboard to monitor fuel economy: it's gotten 24.6 mpg over the last 1066 miles.

Driver's seat height (adjustable) averages about 25" off the ground. Its ground clearance of 8.7 inches makes it not only easy to get in and out of, but along with the all-wheel drive, makes it a great vehicle for all seasons, including Midwest winters.

It represents Subaru's 4th generation of Outbacks, named by Motortrend as the "SUV of the Year." Its maximum cargo capacity, with 34.3/71.3 cubic feet (back seats up/down) rivals other classic SUVs on the market. And as for legroom and headroom, it's just plain roomy. Try it out.

For stability and safety, Subaru's Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system monitors the direction of the car compared to the intended steering direction. It compensates by braking individual wheels and/or altering fuel flow to the engine. Also, the Traction Control System (TCS) senses if any wheels are skidding and redirects power only to those wheels having the best traction. This is what is meant by the word "symmetrical" in Subaru's "Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive."

Imperfections (see photos): Surface rust spots on roof, driver's doorjamb; ding in corner of windshield; pokes in front center armrest.

But of course it has Subaru's signature All-Wheel Drive transmission!
