It's a classic Subaru: a 2008 Outback 2.5i, with only 138k miles. This one's in Quartz Silver Metallic and is All-Wheel Drive, of course. It's ready to go after our complete engine rebuild, which consisted of reboring the cylinders; new pistons and rings; new main bearings and rod bearings; remanufactured crankshaft; new block seals, crossover tube seals, and rear main seal; new head gaskets and valve cover gaskets; new oil pan gasket and water pump gasket. Resurfaced the heads before putting everything back together. Timing belt was already replaced at 126k.

We also replaced a ball joint, CV shaft, catalytic converter, O2 sensor, and upper rear control arm bushings.

Front brake pads have 8mm thickness (10mm is new for front pads). Rear pads are at about 50%, with 5mm thickness (8mm is new for rear pads).

--> Gave it our signature 300+ mile test, and it passed.

Automatic transmission with sport shift.

17" alloy wheels with a set of 4 NEW Douglas Touring all-season tires.

Has a hitch receiver! 1 1/4". Also a wiring harness for trailer lights (see photos).

Fog lights. Luggage roof rails.

All-Weather Package includes heated front seats, plus defrosting outside mirrors & windshield wiper de-icers which turn on when rear defrost button is pushed. 10-way power driver seat including power lumbar support. Tilt and telescoping steering wheel.

1/8" aux jack in the center console. Three 12v power outlets: in the front console, center console, and rear cargo area.

A trip computer is in the dashboard to monitor fuel economy: it gets 25 to 26 mpg.

Driver's seat height (adjustable) averages about 23" off the ground. Its ground clearance of 8.4 inches makes it not only easy to get in and out of, but along with the all-wheel drive, makes it a great vehicle for all seasons, including Midwest winters.

Cargo capacity is 33.5 cubic feet. With back seats down, it's 65.4 cf.

Imperfections (see photos): Hood and LH fender dings, windshield scratch. TPMS light is on even though all tires are inflated to recommended pressure.

But of course this Outback has Subaru's signature All-Wheel Drive transmission!
